We also offer training courses in asbestos, lead and mould awareness, worker training and management control operations
Hazardous Materials Services include: Designated Substances Surveys, Asbestos Building Materials Surveys, Mould Assessments and Investigations of residential, office, and industrial sites, as well as assessments for individual hazardous substances, such as PCB's, Lead, Mercury, Isocyanates, Ozone-depleting substances and UFFI.
Hazardous Materials Surveys
Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. conducts hazardous materials investigations for our clients to identify regulated or controlled materials which require special consideration with respect to Federal, State and Provincial regulations, and with respect to disposal as a waste material.
A typical hazardous materials survey includes a room-by-room assessment of the building/facility for hazardous materials, such as Asbestos, Mould, Lead, Mercury, Silica, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODSs), Radon, Electromagnetic Radiation, and Urea Formaldehyde Foam Insulation (UFFI).
Hazardous Materials Operations and Maintenance Programs
When hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, mercury and other hazards are present in your building, an operation and maintenance (O&M) program should be developed (where not specifically regulated) to properly manage the hazards on site. Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. has been developing O&M programs for clients from the financial industry to the industrial industry for over 10 years. All O&M programs are custom designed to meet the specific requirements of the facilities and include work procedures for properly managing the hazards in your building.
Designated Substance Assessments
Designated Substance Surveys include visual assessments and sampling for all Designated Substances as listed under the Canadian provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts, and the United States of America Environmental Protection Agency. As well, Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. will also establish and implement client-specific Designated Substance assessments to include substances outside of the scope of designated substances, but that may still considered dangerous materials, chemicals, and/or biological contaminants. Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. has the capabilities and expertise to provide management, control, and removal of designated substances once they have been identified.
Polychlorinated Biphenyl Surveys and Management Plans
Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. has conducted PCB surveys for over 10 years. PCB surveys determine the original age of the building and any additions, and consist of a visual assessment of lamp ballasts and dielectric fluid-containing equipment.
Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. compare lamp ballasts to Environment Canada's, "Identification of Lamp Ballasts Containing PCBs", dated August 1991. Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. will examine dielectric fluid-filled equipment for identification or sampling to determine PCB content.
Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. will prepare a report detailing the PCB assessment, any sample locations, the analytical data, floor plans, and an assessment with recommendations for management of the PCBs.
Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. can prepare PCB Management Plans on how to deal with the presence of the PCBs on-site. The management plan may include employee PCB awareness, health and safety issues, hygiene, and building management practices.
Ontario Environmental & Safety Network Ltd.. can assist in the initiating or auditing of a short-term PCB storage room and can arrange for the removal PCB wastes for destruction and the decommissioning of the short-term PCB storage room.
